Navigate 2.1.1 Delivery Methods and the Synchronous Vendor Market Quest
Compose a blog post regarding the available options in the synchronous delivery market for learning:
As a Georgia Virtual School teacher I have used both Elluminate and Adobe Connect for my synchronous sessions and office hours. I appreciate the ease of use of Adobe Connect over Elluminate, especially the fact that you can use one link for all the sessions. In Elluminate, you had to make a new link for each session. It was cumbersome!
Some other synchronous delivery sites, there are some features that I would appreciate to have in Adobe Connect. For example, I would like a calculator "pod" to show students how to use their calculators to solve problems. So many students don't know how to properly use their calculators, even at the AP level. Another feature that I like is the ease of use of the drawing tablet in some of the sites, like Blackboard and GoToMeeting. I like to solve problems live with my students, and the tools available in Adobe Connect aren't the best. The drawing pad works very slowly and often skips characters. If you use the text tool to type on the screen, the students don't see what you are typing until you hit enter. So, they can't see the order in which I type. The order is very important to understanding the process to solve problems. In other synchronous delivery sites, you can see what is being typed on the screen as you type!
In conclusion, there are many available sites, each with their own learning curve and features that make each one slightly unique over the next.
