Evaluate 2.1.1 – Data Driven Instruction, Analytics, Reporting Tools Quest
Review the artifacts above on student enrollments and student progress in the course. Then, provide a detailed description of all that this information tells you about the hypothetical course. Include how the teacher might adjust the course in the future based on the previous activity of these students. Document in a reflection on your blog.
Here at GAVS we can find information through TheSIS and also through the analytics in Brightspace. In TheSIS we see the number of students in each course as well as detailed information about each student. Also in TheSIS we record communication in the Comm Log. This can be done by entering a note or by sending email directly through TheSIS. While most emails are done through outlook, emails regarding any situation that needs to be documented should be sent through TheSIS or noted accordingly.
Within Brightspace we can see many details about student progress. We can see when student activity, reports about quizzes and items missed. Within Brightspace is where students will also view their feedback on each specific assignment.
Here is the summary for the sample data provided:
The teacher teaches three course, one of which is an AP course.
The teacher has a combination of regular and gifted ed students.
The welcome call was placed.
The teacher indicated one failing grade and one also failing grade in the Comm Log.
The teacher sent an email to students who had outstanding achievement.
A heat map can be used to see student progress and trends throughout the course.
In the gradebook students will see comments and feedback for each assignment (Note that feedback on tests and quizzes do not show up in the gradebook because of the way Brightspace is set up. Therefore students must be taught how to view this specific feedback.)
From the quiz tab students can see what they missed on a test or quiz. This is not visible from the gradebook.
