Create 1.1.1 - Time Management Quest
List five time management tools in your blog and briefly describe their use and relevance to the online world.
1. Set aside time for planning and scheduling. From the quiz, I learned that I don't spend enough time on this. If you don't set a schedule for yourself, you can end up wasting time! This is true for both personal and professional, however I was taking the quiz thinking about work related activities.
2. Prioritize. I have learned to prioritize my tasks at work. I always answer emails first because I consider communication my highest priority. Sometimes I will prioritize the emails delaying some for later if they are not urgent, but I always check them first.
3. Plan ahead. If I know that a due date is coming, I make sure to set aside extra time or I try to get ahead on my grading knowing that many students will be turning in lots of assignments at the last minute.
4. Complete the tasks I am avoiding in blocks. If there is a particular lab I hate to grade, for example, I will set myself a goal to grade 10, or some other number, take a break and do something else, then come back and do that many more until I finish. I find it less overwhelming than sitting down to grade 30+ of them!
5. Be flexible. Always allow your schedule to be altered as needed. There will always be something that comes up and ruins your plan. So, if you allow yourself to stay flexible, it may ruin your plan, but not your day.
