Jigsaw Assignment 102
.Pane 1: Video
I made a video of myself solving some example problems, using ScreenCastify. I then downloaded it and converted it to mp4. I loaded it in Pane 1! Normally I like to solve problems in a presentation, but at this point, I had not learned how to annotate in a presentation. So, this was my work around. I think it is extremely important for students to see the problem solving process. This video allows them to see how I think as I solve a problem. I teach them to start at the end by focusing on the goal of the problem. Then they will work backwards to see how to solve. Watching me do this, is a very helpful too!
One thing I was very glad to learn about was the follow me tool. I was dismayed at how small each pane was. I was so relieved to learn that we could enlarge

In this pane, I added a powerpoint presentation that went along with my video. I show different steps of drawing diagrams to solve the problem

Reflection:
Transitioning from Adobe Connect to Jigsaw has been a difficult one for me. I don't find this to be intuitive. I had to learn that everything had to be loaded on the front end. I couldn't open my session and load from there. It all had to be done ahead of time. Once I learned that, the next frustration I had to overcome was getting a presentation to load. I learned that if I didn't click presentation in the manage assets page, that powerpoints would not be recognized as presentations. When you open your session with a powerpoint added, pane 2 will still show as Screen Share only. The presentation option won't show. I had to reload powerpoints with the presentation button clicked. Then it was easy. The next thing I want to tackle is annotating on the presentation screen! I feel like that's where the magic will happen. For now, I do like my work around of making a video of me solving the problems! And, I am thrilled that powerpoint animations are showing. That is a huge help for me since I build all of my presentations using animations.
